As gardeners ourselves, we were frustrated and confused when shopping for gardening products. We found products with hard to pronounce chemical additives. We read 100 different NPK numbers, then Googled NPK to remind us what nutrients they stood for. We wandered the aisles of our local garden stores trying to figure out which combination of products would help our poor leggy tomatoes become fruitful and happy.
We envisioned a simple, straightforward, natural line of products that was easy to understand and easy to use. And so, Love, Plants was born.
We are a small woman-owned and operated business committed to using only sustainable, natural, and organic ingredients in all of our products. Our mission is to empower home gardeners with the products and knowledge you need to help your plants thrive.
Healthy soil is the foundation for healthy roots, plants, and bountiful harvests. A soil test provides important information about the growing conditions of your garden. A soil sample test assesses individual nutrient levels as well as the pH of your soil. Based on this information, we will help you understand what types of products will balance your soil and help your garden thrive.
If your garden uses the same soil medium and has the same general growing conditions (sun exposure, soil drainage, water access), even if it spreads across multiple planting areas (e.g. raised beds & pots), you can do a single soil test by either combining soil and taking a sample, or sampling a single location, if it is representative of all growing locations.
If your garden has several different soil mediums or growing conditions we recommend doing a test kit of 3 soil samples. Be sure to note which sample comes from which location for your own records in addition to including it on the order form. You can order as many test kits as you need - we’ll keep all of your information stored in the same account for your reference.
You will receive your results about a week after they are received by the lab (give or take a couple of days). You’ll receive an analysis from The Soil Doctor, recommendations for how to treat your soil to address any imbalances in nutrients or pH, and a link to the detailed soil test from the lab if you really want to dig into the details.

Mushroom compost is a by-product of mushroom farming, but doesn’t actually contain the fruiting body of mushrooms. In our case, it was used to grow two crops of premium edible mushrooms before it was bagged for you. It contains lots of that ‘shroomy goodness like fungal mycelium and both micro and macro nutrients.

Check your product for expiration dates. When no expiration date is listed, all Love, Plants products are good for use 2 years after the manufacturing date listed on the package.
Unfortunately, we don’t currently ship internationally. We also cannot currently ship to Hawaii or Alaska. Check back soon!
